The Arkiver Elves have been hard at work! They’ve created three brand new tools for you this holiday season and you don’t even need to wait for Santa. They cut out the middleman and delivered them early direct to your Arkiver account!

  • Web Collector is a Chrome extension that enables you to save pictures and text from the web to your Arkiver account.
  • Flashback randomly picks moments from your past for you to enjoy.
  • Storyteller lets you create a custom list of prompts to help you capture stories that may otherwise be forgotten.

Tools add a totally different dimension to your Arkiver experience. They help you collect, organize, preserve and enjoy your memories in useful and engaging new ways.
We’ll be adding many more neat tools in the coming months but here are the first three and they’re all free. It’s the season of giving afterall…

1) Web Collector

Have you ever seen pictures or read stuff on the internet that you’ve wanted to keep?  That’s why we built Web Collector – a Chrome extension that enables you to save pictures and text from websites all around the web to your own Arkiver collections.  Here’s some examples of how I’ve been using it:

  • Saving pictures from Facebook: Although you can also connect to Facebook through the Arkiver uploader, with Web Collector if I see something our family is tagged in on Facebook I just right click on the picture and “Add To Arkiver”.
  • Recording my thoughts on current events and entertainment: I right click on pictures and text from news sites, add them to Arkiver along with some notes so years from now I’ll be able to look back at what I was thinking about the what was going on around me in the world.
  • Keeping notes for work: As I see app design elements that inspire me, I capture them and keep them in a “App Design Ideas” collection which helps me remember and share them.

Web Collector is SO EASY TO USE!  The first time you click on Web Collector in Arkiver, you’ll be taken to a description and some screenshots of the Arkiver Web Collector extension on the Chrome Webstore.  Just click “Add to Chrome” and you’ll see the Arkiver Ark appear to the right of the browser bar.  Click the Ark and all the images on the website you’re on will appear and you can select as many as you want and click “Import Selected” (top right). Then just add them to an Arkiver collection and voila – there they are view them anywhere on any device, organize them using collections and tags, share them privately, print them and much more.

2) Flashback

Do you take a bunch of pictures but never really go back and enjoy them again?  Flashback is a super simple tool that picks moments at random from your Arkiver account.   Just click the Flashback button and  hop back in time to who knows when of memories of know’s what! The more moments you have in Arkiver, the more you’ll enjoy using this tool. Give it a try!

3) Storyteller

Got a whole bunch of memories stored nowhere but your head? Want to record some stories about your life but don’t know where to start?

Storyteller helps trigger memories from your past and write these stories down so they’re preserved for you and future generations. Use the tool to create your own custom list of story prompts – choose from our list of over 200 questions or write your own.  When you have a spare couple of minutes, you can go to Storyteller and pick one to write about and save to Arkiver.  So far I’ve recorded stories about my most inspiring teacher, my most embarrasing moment and my favorite meal.  What stories will you tell?

Wait, there’s more!

OK, so the three new tools are the big holiday gifts, but we’ve been working on some little stocking stuffers for you too!

  • Redesigned Sharing – We’ve totally overhauled the “Shared With Me” view into a larger, single stream so if you haven’t seen that or tried our Commenting and Likes features, log in to check them out!
  • Download – We just added a button in Moment view that enables you to download any file from Arkiver to your computer.  Pictures, videos, pdfs, notes and quotes can all be easily downloaded at the click of a button so you can do whatever you want with them.

We hope you enjoy these shiny new features and get ready for 2016 – unlike Santa, the Arkiver elves deliver gifts all year round.

In the meantime, from all of us here at Arkiver, we wish you and your family all the very best for the holidays!
Ho! Ho! Ho!
